Transitional Home Wine Cellar Design: Features and Inspiring Projects by California Builders
When designing wine rooms, it is best to consult a master builder with extensive knowledge in creating custom wine displays that enhance the aesthetic value of your property. A transitional home wine cellar design is the fusion of traditional and modern elements. To achieve this style of interior, wood, metal, or glass elements are combined.
When choosing colors, accessories, and furniture, you might experience a dilemma. However, when you work with a team of experts in the Wine Cellar Designers Group, you will have a hassle-free experience. See some of the projects completed by two of our members, Coastal Custom Wine Cellars and Harvest Wine Cellars & Saunas.
Wow-Worthy Transitional Home Wine Cellar Design by Coastal Custom Wine Cellars
In one of the most recent projects completed by Coastal Custom Wine Cellars, they incorporated wood and glass elements, resulting in a luxurious-looking custom wine display. As one of the top-notch wine room builders in California, the Coastal team has transformed the space into an art piece next to the dining room in the client’s house.
Wine Rack: Beautiful Features Perfect for a Transitional Wine Home Cellar Design
In creating a transitional residential wine cellar design for this project, they had to maximize the limited space without compromising the aesthetic quality of the wine cellar. They installed the L-shaped wooden wine racks on the right and back walls. Although the back wall is longer than the right wall, the design of the racking is symmetrical. The wine room can hold up to 616 bottles in different bottle configurations.
They incorporated cubicles at the top section of the walls with individual wine racks on the back wall. The middle section consists of three levels of horizontal display rows, which pitch the bottles at a 15-degree angle. At the bottom section of the racking, you will see a single-deep cork-forward wine rack on each wall. Both sides of it are diagonal wine racks.
The wine racks were manufactured from Alder wood and applied with a dark stain to achieve a darker and more elegant look. Alder is known for its ability to withstand humid conditions in refrigerated wine cellars.
Glass Enclosure Adds a Contemporary Feel to the Custom Wine Cellar in California
Coastal Custom Wine Cellars installed a glass door and walls to provide an unobstructed view of the client’s wine collection from the dining area. The amount of glass used in a wine cellar has a significant impact on the insulation requirements and sizing of the wine cooling unit. They utilized thermally insulated glass panes with a ¾ -inch thickness.
Home Wine Cellar Design with Wood and Metal Elements
Harvest Custom Wine Cellars & Saunas is another member of the Wine Cellar Designers Group. It provides innovative wine storage solutions for every budget. In one of its projects, the owners found an image of a wine cellar they liked, and they sent it to the Harvest team to use as a starting point for the design phase. Their prized collection consists of wines from various regions in the United States. With the continuous growth of their collection, they decided to invest in a dedicated wine cellar for easy access to their wines and add aesthetic value to their property.
After a careful assessment of the client’s needs, Harvest Custom Wine Cellars & Saunas, three-dimensional images were created, including the different wine room elevations, racking design, and bottle capacities. The owners requested some changes, and after modifying the design, the Harvest team resubmitted it. After the client approved the proposal, the construction began. The Harvest team combined wood and metal wine racks to create a unique wine display area for the client’s collection.
Wooden Wine Rack Features
Upon entering the transitional wine cellar, you will see the wooden wine racks from IronWine Cellars on the back wall. The center of the racking consists of an arch opening with a tabletop for serving wine. They added a drawer and a 2-door cabinet to provide storage for wine accessories and accouterments. The rest of the wine racks are intended to hold the bottles individually in a cork-forward orientation. The wood was applied with Alder Wheat stain and left unfinished.
Metal Wine Storage System for a Contemporary Touch
Metal components are ideally used for building contemporary interiors. In this transitional home wine cellar design, Harvest Custom Wine Cellars & Saunas installed metal wine racks from VintageView. They are located on the left and right walls of the wine room. To maximize the capacity of the space, triple-deep wine racks were used. The label-forward display orientation of the metal wine racks allows for easy viewing of the wine labels.
