Sleek Wine Rack System for a Tiny Home Wine Cellar

The racking design plays a significant role in achieving the mood that you want for your wine room. Therefore, it is essential that you consult with a trusted designer.

At Blue Grouse Wine Cellars, we make sure that the wine racks suit the owner’s functional and aesthetic requirements by making a careful assessment of the room’s size and location, the number of bottles the client is planning to store in the cellar, financial needs, and the overall ambiance desired.

Metal and glass are widely used in building contemporary style wine rooms. In this particular project, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars worked closely with their client. They decided to combine these two materials to create a sleek appeal that can quickly grab one’s attention.

Features of the Wine Rack System Designed and Installed by Los Angeles Master Builders

The owner chose Millesime wine racks, one of the most popular providers of modern wine storage solutions. This wine rack system makes use of rails and posts made from anodized aluminum. The end blocks are made of acrylic. Their function is to fix and support the rails. You may also choose between Mahogany and Walnut for the end block. However, most modern wine collectors go for end blocks made from clear acrylic.

Provides Ease in Browsing the Wines and an Eye-Catching Wine Storage and Display

Millesime metal wine racks are designed with a label forward configuration, which allows ease of access to the wines. Since the labels are facing out, there is no need to flip the bottle to see the wine’s description. Flipping the bottle will disturb the wine’s sediments, resulting in off flavors and aromas.

Another benefit of choosing Millesime wine racks is their ability to catch someone’s attention at a glance. When installed by an expert, selecting this type of wine rack system will make your space look elegant.

Space-Saver

Just like other types of metal racking systems, another primary advantage of Millesime wine racks is their space efficiency. At Wine Cellar Designers Group, we recommend these contemporary wine storage units for small spaces and tiny corners. They can be easily configured to fit the size and shape of your wine room.

For this particular project, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars installed the Millesime wine racks on the left, right, and back walls. The wine racks are all single-deep. The sloping ceiling of the room posed a challenge. However, with Blue Grouse’s expertise, they were able to address the problem.  They used brackets specifically designed for this type of ceiling. If you do not want to mount your wine racks to the ceiling, you can purchase mounting brackets for the wall.

Flexibility in Increasing the Bottle Capacity

Another reason many builders, designers, and homeowners love Millesime wine racks is because they allow convenience in increasing the bottle capacity of your racking. For example, if you want to add more wines to your collection, you can opt for additional display or presentation rows.

The display row highlights some of the bottles at an angle. It is recommended for bottles sealed by a cork because it keeps the cork in contact with the wine. When the cork dries out, it will shrink and lose its elasticity, causing an unwanted amount of air to mix with the wine. When this happens, the wine will be oxidized and have off flavors.

Another option for increasing the bottle capacity of the Millesime wine racks is incorporating bulk storage bins which have a triple depth. For this modern wine cellar project under the stairs, the Los Angeles builders did not recommend any add-on feature for increased capacity because of the limited space.

Wine Cellar Insulation and Installation of the Refrigeration System

One of the most important aspects of wine cellar construction is room insulation. Wine Cellar Designers Group is composed of members that are highly knowledgeable about the importance of sealing the wine cellar before installing the wine racks, cooling system, door, and flooring.

Why is Room Insulation a Requirement for Wine Cellars Equipped with a Cooling System?

Just like the rest of their projects, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars insulated the walls and ceiling of the wine cellar. You and your precious wines will benefit from insulating the wine room.  It will prevent the warm air from entering and the cool air from escaping the cellar.

Moreover, it prevents mold and mildew growth by keeping the humidity levels at an ideal range (60-70 percent). We also make sure that every wine cellar door we install is equipped with weather stripping on all the edges to cover all of the gaps.

Another significant role of wine room insulation is that it helps prevent your wine cooling system from working too hard to achieve the perfect wine storage conditions. An unstable environment will cause it to break down, and you will have to spend for the repair or worse, replacement of your refrigeration system. At Wine Cellar Designers Group, we always see to it that insulating the wine cellar is a standard procedure to follow.
