Exceptional Features of California Custom Wine Cellars Built by Creative Master Builders
Vintage Cellars is one of the members of the Wine Cellar Designers Group. With many years of experience in the construction industry, they always excel in building California custom wine cellars with unique features. The projects they completed in San Diego and Santa Fe will impress you!
Expanded Custom Wine Cellar in San Diego, California
The owners of a luxurious home in San Diego, California, sought the help of Vintage Cellars for their project. They had an existing wine cellar, which was built by Vintage Cellars in 2008. After five years, their collection was growing, and they decided to expand it, doubling its bottle capacity and adding various sizes for the bottle openings.
Custom Wine Cellar with Contemporary Features to Match a High-End Home
The client’s home is made of wood and glass. Cabinetry, furniture, and millwork made from Sapele Mahogany can be found throughout the house. The homeowners wanted to utilize the same wood for the wine racks. The contractor, architect, and design team of the house provided Vintage Cellars with a palette to match the woodwork.
The homeowner has a growing collection, which includes standard and large-format bottles. Vintage Cellars created a stylish racking design that would double the capacity of the existing residential wine cellar.
Impressive Racking Design
Vintage Cellars combined stylish racking styles to accommodate the aesthetic and functional requirements of the client. The wine racks were placed strategically on different walls of the wine room. These include individual wine racks, diamond bins, custom wine cabinets, and wooden case storage.
There is also a row in the racking installed on one of the walls divided into three sections. Each section consists of coved trays with two cascading heights, allowing full visibility of the wine labels. Vintage Cellars also added 8 1/4-inch deep racking consisting of horizontal display wine racks for displaying bottles in a label forward configuration.
One of the eye-catching features in this home wine cellar in California is the 2-layer glass shelf intended for displaying the mini car collection of the client and his wine cellar accessories. Below the double-deep shelf is a wide opening intended to stack and hide all the wooden boxes. The client did not want the boxes to be visible in front of the wine cellar.
On another wall, Vintage Cellars designed the racking to store 98 magnum bottles. The coved trays were increased from 12 to 16 and the custom cabinets from 16 to 26 bottles. With a height of 10 feet, a hook ladder was needed to provide easy access to the bottles stored in the racking sections beyond the reach. It can be moved from one wall to another along the rail or be lifted for use on a separate wall.
Small Residential Custom Wine Cellar Designed with Flair in Santa Fe, California
Space constraints cannot hinder Vintage Cellars from creating exceptional wine displays. Its creative team always finds a way to provide a wine storage solution that goes well with every existing home décor.
In one of the California custom wine cellars they built, they had to deal with the small space. The good thing was Vintage Cellars created a design that would make it look bigger! They were able to transform the space into a wine storage area for 1,400 bottles.
Rustic Wine Cellar Design Perfect for a Small Space
Vintage Cellars created another awe-inspiring custom wine cellar design for a client who wanted to have a dedicated wine cellar installed on the second floor of his home.
The team incorporated curved corner wine racks on the left and right walls to create a smooth transition from one wall to another without losing the bottle capacity in an area that should be unutilized. The bottom section of the sidewalls consists of double deep racking for individual storage and a tabletop where the client can decant and serve wine.
The center of the back wall is the focal point of this custom home wine cellar. It has customized double-door European cabinets above and below the countertop. Two drawers were also added in the middle and a small opening above the cabinets for storing large format bottles horizontally. The top section has single-deep individual wine racks for 750ml bottles, which end open against the entrance into the wine cellar. This racking style was ideal for the homeowner, who had mostly verticals in his collection.
Vintage Cellars utilized All-Heart Redwood for the countertop. Another distinctive feature of the wine cellar design is the single bottle racking that lines the ceiling. It will amaze anyone who sees wines when they look up to the ceiling of the wine room.
To complete the classic look of the wine cellar, Vintage Cellars added a sink and a small island with a marble countertop in the corner. It is the perfect area for pouring and drinking wine paired with some cheese.
