The owners decided to add a beautiful wine cellar in one of their model homes. This was their first time working with a wine room builder. Adding a beautiful feature to the unit would entice more clients to purchase a property from them. A well-designed wine cellar also increases the value of a residential property.  

The wine display area is located between the living room and dining area, showing off the wine bottles with elegance. Modern Wine Racks  

The wine rack design has a significant impact on the overall ambiance of your wine cellar. It must be well thought out to ensure that all of your requirements are met. Some wine collectors prefer traditional wine racks made of wood. However, there is an increasing demand for modern design.  

Arctic Metalworks, like other members of the Wine Cellar Designers Group, incorporates metal and glass elements in building contemporary wine cellars. These materials help create clean lines and achieve a minimalist and elegant appeal.   

In this particular wine cellar project, the Arctic team installed stainless steel wine racks on the left, right, and back walls. The label forward bottle orientation displays the bottles on their sides. With the labels facing out, it would be more convenient to read the wine labels and locate a specific type of wine.   

Contemporary Glass Door and Walls  

In this home wine cellar cooling project, Arctic Metalworks enclosed the wine room with seamless glass on two sides. The glass door was the perfect option for this wine cellar because it allows the bottles to be viewed from the outside. For the frameless glass walls, they used 9-ft single pane half-inch glass panels.   

With a large amount of glass used in the wine cellar, the team had to increase the room insulation. They made sure that the door was sealed correctly to maximize the cooling efficiency of the wine refrigeration unit. They added sealing components to the door to prevent the cold air from escaping and the warm air from entering the wine room. Proper wine room insulation helps prevent temperature fluctuations and varying humidity levels.  

Moreover, it prevents the climate control system from working too hard to achieve the ideal wine storage environment. Remember that when the cooling unit might break down and cause wine storage issues when there is a lack or no insulation is installed.

The wine refrigeration system plays a significant role in creating the ideal wine storage environment in wine cellars. At Wine Cellar Designers Group and our members, we have extensive knowledge and understanding about the function of wine cooling systems in preserving the desirable characteristics of wine for many years.  

In this home wine cellar cooling project, Arctic Metalworks encountered some challenges. One of these was how to conceal the climate control unit inside the wine room. What they did was to duct the wine cooler split system and create vents in the ceiling to supply the cold air needed by the wines to preserve their qualities.   

The Arctic team requested the homebuilder to make a platform in the attic of the model home for the forced air unit that would supply the cold air at a high-static pressure. The builder provided them with a high voltage and condensate line for the drain.
