Outstanding Flooring Options Offered by Master Builders
The installation of flooring requires technical skills. Therefore, you must not hire just anybody on your installation project. You must work with an experienced builder who can help create the perfect environment for your wines and install your beautiful flooring correctly.
Choosing the wrong company will result in serious problems because they lack knowledge about the importance of correct insulation and proper installation of the flooring. If you want your wine cellar to have flooring that is both appealing and functional, you must work with a professional like Wine Cellar Designers Group. Unique features will add value to your wine cellar.
The most common flooring materials are slate, vinyl, tiles, and marble. Nowadays, wine barrel and cork flooring are becoming more popular in both residential and commercial applications because of their aesthetic and functional benefits. They both complement the existing décor of your home or commercial establishment.
Why Choose Wine Barrel Flooring
Oak barrels play a crucial role in aging wines. For many years, they are being used to impart distinctive taste, texture, and tint to the wine stored in them. After they have used up their lifespan, they are sold as planters or firewood, or disposed of in landfills.
Instead of letting them destroy our environment, Wine Cellar Designers Group found ways of turning them into sustainable products for wine enthusiasts. We use reclaimed wine barrels for
manufacturing, not only wine racks but also stylish wine cellar flooring. Wine barrel flooring adds character and a vintage touch to your wine cellar. Since each plank is hand-finished by our skillful artisan, no two pieces are the same.
The planks are available in various widths and lengths. The thickness is 5/8”. We use the tongue and groove technique to ensure that your flooring is durable and stable. The wine barrel flooring is micro-beveled and pre-finished with a sealant.
Styles of Wine Barrel Flooring
We use the different parts of oak barrels for the flooring. We break them down into long strips and engineer them to create environment-friendly flooring.
The top and bottom portions of the wine barrel are used to create Cooperage style flooring. If you want cooper stamps and distinctive markings to appear on your flooring, this is the best option. These markings identify the wine once stored in the barrel and the winery’s logo as well.
The Stave flooring consists of the wood from the sides of the barrels. It has markings left by the metal hoop bands.
Another style of wine barrel flooring is the Wine Infusion. It displays the interior part of the barrel, which was stained by the wine stored in it. Wine Infusion flooring is the best choice if you want to see reddish or darker tones on your flooring.
We also use the Cooperage, Stave, and Wine Infused wood for tabletops and countertops to match your flooring!
Cork Flooring
Cork has properties that make it a good wine bottle stopper. Some people do not know that cork is also one of the recommended flooring materials because of its features. Using cork for flooring helps save the environment because it is a renewable material. Harvesting cork does not require cutting down trees. When the bark is stripped correctly, the cork tree will continue its growth.
Natural Cork Flooring
Natural cork has a unique cellular structure. It contains over 200 million tiny air-filled pockets. It is elastic and impermeable to gases and liquids. It also has high insulating value because it is less conducive to heat, vibrations, and sound compared to other materials. Cork has high resistance to fire and is less prone to wear.
Natural cork flooring is made from premium Portuguese cork. It does not emit harmful volatile organic compounds into your wine cellar, thus making it a carrier of Greenguard Gold standard for Indoor Air Quality.
Flooring Insulation: Why is it Important?
Correct room insulation will prevent unstable conditions from ruining your precious wines. Without it, condensation will form in the ceiling, on the walls, wine labels, and wine racks. At Wine Cellar Designers Group, we make sure that not only the walls and ceilings are insulated but also the flooring.
When insulating the flooring above the ground, we recommend adding wood studs with an insulator and a vapor barrier. When installing flooring on a concrete slab, a vapor barrier is required.
