When you work with a specialist like Wine Cellar Designers Group, you will have a hassle-free experience throughout the project. We will create a design that will make your wine display stand out. We will show you some examples of the projects completed by our team members to give you inspiration for your wine cellar design.
Traditional Home Wine Cellar Design with Maple Wooden Wine Racks
Coastal Custom Wine Cellars is one of the members of the Wine Cellar Designers Group, which has proven its reliability and expertise in designing wine rooms. In one of their projects, they created a traditional home wine cellar design for a small space. The area where the wine room was built is near an entertainment den.
The homeowners have several types of wine in their collection, including Cabernet, Don Perigron, Sangrias, and Pinots. To accommodate the various bottle sizes, the Coastal team installed custom wine racks.
The racking material used was Maple, a type of wood that is naturally beautiful even when left unstained. It has creamy white and reddish-brown tones, perfect for achieving a classic-looking wine cellar. The closed-grain pattern of Maple gives the wine racks a smooth texture.
Racking Styles
Coastal Custom Wine Cellars included seven racking styles, resulting in a stylish wine display. The walls on the sides of the home wine cellar consist of double-deep horizontal wine shelves on the upper half of the racking and deep cubicles for wooden boxes at the bottom half.
The racking on the center wall of the wine cellar is longer compared to the racking on the sidewalls. The top section includes an arch display with a tabletop that provides a space for decanting and serving wines and storing some wine cellar accessories, including decanters. You will also find high-reveal display rows and individual wine racks. The bottom section has horizontal shelves and X-bins.
Oak Wooden Wine Racks by Experts in Designing Traditional Home Wine Cellars
Blue Grouse Wine Cellars, another member of the Wine Cellar Designers Group, has built classic-style wine rooms. They have helped homeowners create a traditional wine cellar with elegant wooden wine racks. In this project, they built a wine room in a modern home. The space utilized is on the main floor next to the bar area adjacent to the stairs.
Elegant Tradiional Home Wine Cellars
The Blue Grouse team came up with a wine storage system for 420 bottles designed for a small space. The owners chose wooden wine racks made from Oak instead of metal wine racks. They wanted to create an Earthy feel and relaxing ambiance.
Oak has characteristics that make it widely used in manufacturing wine racks. It is a versatile, strong, and durable hardwood with unique grain patterns. It can go well with any stain finish, so matching it with your existing décor will not be a problem.
Customizing the racking and combining different bottle configurations helped Blue Grouse Wine Cellars create an awesome wine display while maximizing the storage capacity of the small room.
For bulk storage, we incorporated diamond bins and wooden cases into the traditional wine cellar design. The racking also consists of horizontal display racking intended to store the bottles with the labels facing out.
The quarter-round wine rack adds character to the wine room. It can hold a few wine bottles, accouterments, and wine cellar accessories. Moreover, it also helped create a smooth transition from one wall to another.
Traditional Residential Wine Cellar with Wine Barrel Racks
In one of their projects, Vintage Cellars, also a member of the Wine Cellar Designers Group, was hired by the owners who wanted to transform a space under the staircase into an exceptional wine cellar. The curved and cascading shape of the wine room required custom wine racks to be installed. The Vintage team provided a wine storage solution that would suit the client’s aesthetic and functional needs.
Wine Barrel Racking
One of the ways to incorporate a unique feature into your home wine cellar design is to use eco-friendly elements. Vintage Cellars designed the wine racks with creativity using wine barrel racks from Vintique. Wine barrel racks add a vineyard or wine country feel to wine cellars.
Wine barrels are used for fermenting wines before they are bottled. They impart some hints of vanilla, caramel, and cream and influence the flavor, texture, tint, and tannin of the wines. Instead of throwing them into landfills, many master builders, including Vintage Cellars, found a way to repurpose them into wine cellar components.
Wine barrel racks are made using the planks on the sides of the reclaimed wine barrels. The curvy appearance adds character to the wine cellar. The wood contains distinctive markings left by the metal hoops that once held the barrels intact.
