Why Choose Oak Wood Wine Racks?
Choosing the suitable material for your racking will ensure the overall appeal and functionality of your wine cellar. Oak is a type of wood known for its attractive and closed wood grains, high durability, and resistance to warping and shrinking when exposed to high humid conditions in climate-controlled wine cellars.
Other properties of Oak wood include the following:
- High resistance o wear and tear
- Takes stains and polishes well
- Good water-resistant properties
There are more than 600 species of Oak growing in North America, Europe, Japan, and many countries in the Northern hemisphere. Many master builders, including Blue Grouse Cine Cellars, use Oak for manufacturing elegant wood custom wine racks for custom wine cellars. With extensive experience designing and building elegant wine displays, they can transform spaces into stunning custom wine cellars using wood wine racks.
Traditional Home Wine Cellar Featuring Oak Wood Wine Racks
The owners sought the help of Blue Grouse Wine Cellars in turning a small space beside their bar area adjacent to the stairs into a wine room. The Blue Grouse team incorporated custom features into the racking design. The Oak wine racks in a dark brown finish complemented the modern style of the home.
Racking Styles n the Back Wall (Elevation A) and Right Wall (Elevation B)
Upon entering the traditional wine cellar, you will be greeted by the racking on the back wall, also called Elevation A. The racking consists of horizontal display racks for storing the bottles in a label forward orientation, individual wine racks, and a curved corner rack for displaying a few bottles vertically and displaying wine accessories. The rest of the racking on this wall are individual wine racks, high-revel display rows, and diamond bins for bulk storage.
On the right wall (Elevation B), Blue Grouse Wine Cellars added more individual wine racks at the top, a display row in the middle, and case storage bins with adjustable shelving at the bottom.
Wow-Worthy Modern Wine Cellar Design with Wood Racking
In this wine room project, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars installed Red Oak millwork in a curved glass wine cellar. The client chose to apply a custom stain and lacquer finish on their wine racks. The racking system consists of a beautiful arch opening with a tabletop for decanting and serving wines. Above it is the 3-layer shelving for displaying magnums and other large-format bottles horizontally, with the labels facing out. Both sides of the arch have two columns through which the metal pegs are mounted.
The Blue Grouse team added a display row that lines the middle of the racking. It pitches the bottles at an angle to keep the cork moist. You will see the diamond and rectangular bins below the display row intended for storing wines in cases. LED lights were placed in strategic places in the wine cellar to achieve a striking effect.
Transitional Home Wine Cellar: a Mixed of Oak Wood and Metal Wine Rack
In one of their projects, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars completed the conversion of a basement into a sophisticated wine cellar with a mix of wood and metal elements. They installed Oak wood wine racks on the back and left wall.
The team incorporated an arch opening at the top section of the back wall and added horizontal displays and individual wine racks on both sides. The island display has a marble countertop designed to decant and serve wines. To maximize the storage capacity, Blue Grouse added wine storage space to the sides of the island display.
You can also see angled rows and case storage bins at the bottom. On the left wall, the wood racking consists of horizontal display rows, single bottle storage, and case storage bins.
Blue Grouse Wine Cellars placed the wine cooling unit in this wall and concealed it with a louvered grill cover made from Oak to make it look like it is part of the racking. Other racking styles on this wall include a cigar humidor and storage for wines in cases.
Upon entering the custom wine cellar, the racking to your right is a Float Racking System, which is solely owned by Blue Grouse Wine Cellars.
